About Mia A. Simms 

Currently an AmeriCoprs VISTA Program Coordinator with Communites In Schools of the Nation's Capital, Mia A. Simms has worked and volunteered with multiple educaiton systems across the country for over 10 years. Having graduated in May 2013 from Virginia Tech, Mia obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Sociology with minors in African and African American Studies. 

 

Mi anow serves as Miss Black DC US Ambassador making appearances in the community to promote education, literacy, and dropout prevention, as she encourages students to follow their dreams and celebrate their best selves. She continues to raise awareness, resources, adn funding for the following community organizations: Tigerlilly Foundation, Books for America, Nothern Virginia Family Services, and Youth Volunteer Corps. 

 

Self-proclaimed fashionista, entreprenuer, health nut, pageant girl, social media enthusiast and bookworm, she challenges herself to maintain the prevailing mantra: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
